Last Reads of the Year | The One Where I Start Poetry Collections

Good morning everyone! Time to wrap up December’s reading!

As of writing this, I have read 8 books in December! You’d think with that reading I will have hit my GoodReads goal. Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. Wait for later this week to find out!

But of those 8 books, my lowest rating was 3 stars so tthat’s good! I gave really high ratings and in 2020 my wrap ups will be more organized and have more stats. So look forward to that!

Let’s just get into the books I’ve read. And sorry if there are random periods everywhere, my keyboard is messed up again. These aren’t in any particular order.

Merry Me, Mistletoe Magic, and Christmas Wish by Amanda Siegrist

I got all of these books from Give Me Books Promotions as a part of a promotion for the release of Snowed in Love, the fourth book in this series. They can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend reading them in order if you care about the other relationships because they are huge parts of the stories following.

I rated these books 5, 4, and then 3 stars in that order. I am gradually losing interest for the relationships because of the characters they are following. The first book I was really into. The second book, again, really into. The third book introduced a new female character that kinda drove me insane and the fourth book is about a character that I don’t care about and his romance with a character I almost cared about.

These are all christmas romances and I’m hoping to finish the year with 9 books in December by finishing. Snowed in Love before midnight. Then cracking right into Queen of Nothing to kick of NewYearsathon (please join, announcement here)

The She Book by Tanya Markul

I gave this poetry collection 4 stars. It was very focused on women and not letting anything bring the woman down and loving herself despite everything. I loved it, but it also got really repetitive.

I read this as a part of my “getting to know my reading preferences” aka “A Court of Tropes and Genres” aka I can’t think of a better name so that may stick aka let me know your thoughts on the name. All the poetry collections I read this month are a part of that.

The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace

Lols. 4 books (hopefully 5) written by Amandas. I didn’t even do it on purpose! But I gave this 5 stars. I loved it. It was dark, gritty, and motivating all in one. I fell in love with Amanda Lovelace’s poetry in this and I can’t wait to read more.

The Dark Between Stars by Atticus

Now, I’ve read. Atticus before so I knew I’d love this one and I did! I gave it 5 stars. It follows a relationship and I just adored it. It was bare and beautiful. I’m becoming a huge fan of poetry.

The Toll by Neal Shusterman

4 stars. Solid finale to the Arc of Scythe series and Neal Shusterman did it again. He made me question all of my morals and my life. It was wonderful. I look forward to reading more Neal Shusterman aftter this.

Can’t get into what this book is about, but the series follows a world where we’ve evolved and created an AI that made it so humans can’t die and nothing bad happens to them, no sickness, nothing. So humans can live forever. To counter this, scythes were created. The AI can’t interfere witht the Scythedom and the Scythedom can’t ask for help from the AI. So we follow two people who are chosen to apprentice as scythes.

PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han

Another sequel. I wanted something quick and easy to listen to so this won out. I enjoyed it enough, but it wasn’t great. I don’t see the love for Peter. Now John Ambrose, on the other hand, is a cinnamon bun. So there’s that. 3 stars, don’t support the direction it’s taking but here we go onto book three.

General summary of book one with no spoilers, main character writes letters to get over her crushes and keeps them in a hat box, letters are mysteriously sent out to the boys, drama ensues.

That’s it! Those are the books I’ve read this month. I’m hoping to finish Christmas Wish before the end of the day (that gives me about 5 hours so. 100% doable).

Comment down below with what book you ended the year off with!

I’ll see you all tomorrow with my January TBR (which I’m going to write once I finish this so I can actually get it up on time). It’s also going to include my TBR for NewYearsathon so make sure you check it out.

Lastly, don’t forget that SelfLoveathon is happening in January. Read all the books that you feel you can connect to or will help you better understand yourself. ❤

See you all tomorrow! Bye!!!

Last Book Haul of 2019 (Aka I Went Overboard Again)

Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful year and I’m so sad it’s coming to an end already. It seems like every year is going by quicker and quicker. But that just means a new start and new goals!

But until then, let’s discuss the last books I got in December. This will include my Owlcrate, Book of the Month, Christmas gifts, and my Black Friday Book Outlet order. Now, I don’t have photos of all of these books so some are going to just be listed and I’m sorry for that! I didn’t really prep ahead of time.

Let start with OwlCrate. I did post my unboxing and you can view it here. But the book that came with the Owlcrate was…

Now, I know nothing about this book but I know that a lot of people really like this author so I’m interested in trying them out.

I ended up canceling my BotM after this month, so this was my last choice!

I chose One Day in December by Josie Silver. I don’t know anything about this one either. But I was planning on canceling and I’ve seen this one around so I just chose this.

Time for some Christmas gifts!

I got all of these gifts from amazing some friends I have! I forgot to iclude For Everyone by Jason. Reynolds because it was in my bag when I took this picture. Make sure to follow everyone I linked because they deserve the world and this is the most I can provide ❤

Christina from SushiRainbow

Melissa from TheWrittenAdventure

Liz from FrenchToast.n.Books

Make sure to follow them. They are so wonderful. And shoot them a message, you won’t regret it!

Now, last but not least is my BookOutlet Order. I have so many books here that I’m just going to list them if I don’t have a photo. It was the Black Friday order and it came early in December. Also, this isn’t all of them. Some were for my son and if you want to see what I got him, comment below and let me know and he can have his own haul!

  • Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo
  • Tales of Mystery and Madness by Edgar Allan Poe
  • Archenemies (Renegades Book 2) by Marissa Meyer
  • Sadie by Courtney Summers (I already own this book and I forgot. Thankfully I’m working on making a list of all the books I own so this. won’t happen again since I did it during the Boxing Day sale too.)
  • I Find You in the Darkness by Alfa Holden
  • Love Story by Karen Kingsbury
  • American Panda by Gloria Chao
  • The White Christmas Inn by Colleen Wright
  • My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren
  • Jumbo Book of Large-Print Crosswords (I’ve tried a few of these and either they’re dumb or I am. I don’t know.)
  • The She Book by Tanya Markul
  • Watch Us Rise by Renee Watson and Ellen Hagan
  • The Ancient Magus Bride Vol 2
  • The Ancient Magus Bride Vol 3
  • The Ancient Magus Bride Vol 5
  • The Ancient Magus Bride Vol 6 (I need vol 4 still)
  • Beasts of Abigaile Vol 3
  • Beasts of Abigaile Vol 4
  • Yokai Rental Shop Vol 2
  • Yokai Rental Shop Vol 3
  • Yokai Rental Shop Vol 4
  • Wonderland Vol 1
  • If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord Vol 2
  • If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord Vol 3
  • Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter Vol 2
  • Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter Vol 3
  • The Dark Between Stars by Atticus

So, as you can probably tell, I got A LOT of manga. You know what that means, right?! Maybe we’ll do a Mangathon soon!

But that’s it for this one. I hope you all enjoyed. Next time I’ll try to give more synopsises and photos. This time there were just too many books and I already put a bunch of the BookOutlet ones in boxes for one of my 2020 Reading Goals.

Anyway, thanks for joining me and I’ll see you all soon with my wrap up that I will hopefully get up soon!

Weekly TBR and Goals | Dec 30, 2019-Jan 5th, 2020

Oh hey! It’s Monday! That means it’s time to set some goals. Great. Let’s start setting. But first, welcome.

I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to get my December Book Haul up for you all. My phone airdropping to my iPad just wasn’t working and I haven’t had the motivation to switch to my computer.

So I’ll work on that tomorrow and until then, I’m sorry. Goal is to have both of those up tomorrow. I have a post planned for each and every day this week. Today’s is this. Tomorrow is wrap up and hauls for December.

So tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me when it comes to blogging.

But another main goal of the week is reading. I would like to finish Snowed in Love before tomorrow is over (I just finished PS I Still Love You but that was on the list too). I also would like to finish reading QoN and listen to A Darker Shade of Magic entirely, same with The Valentine Proposal.

Lastly for reading, I want to start Chestnut Man. I doubt I’ll get to all of the books mentioned, but some are higher priorities than others.

Any other tasks that I have for the week are cleaning and home related. Oh, besides wanting to update my planners every day and wanting to participate in two Instagram photo challenges.

But other than that I mainly just want to get my home in order. My brother is moving out and since we already get up my son’s bed in our room and it won’t fit thought outs bedroom doors, the spare room will be the playroom for both my husband and my son.

So that means a lot of rearranging and reorganizing. But since that probably won’t be don’t until next week, I want to finalize placement plans.

I want to start working on the kitchen declutter and start on school stuff since that starts tben 6th.

Anyway, it’s currently 4:30pm and I’ve been up for almost 34 hours. Sox I’m passing out. Especially since I had one cup of coffee yesterday when I woke up.

Don’t forget that NewYearsathon starts on the first! I definitely look forward to doing this readathon with you all.

Let me know in the comments what goals you have for this week.

See you all in the next one! Bye!

Shoutout Saturday: MomsBookCollection

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a good weekend so far! I’m going to my grandma’s in a few hours to celebrate Christmas with my family (and do laundry 🙈). But before I do that, I wanted to get this post ready to go.

Comment below if you want me to follow you. Just tell me your current read and what you think about it. And if you think you’ll finish it before the end of the year.

I meant to write this yesterday so it went up at my normal time, but obviously that didn’t go over very well. Fridays are weird for me. But let’s just get into this shoutout Saturday! And don’t forget that I’m doing some on my Instagram! Make sure to follow everyone mentioned!

Today’s shoutout goes out to the amazing and lovely…

Donna from Moms Book Collection

As a fellow momma and book lover, I connected with her immediately. Then we learned our book tastes were very similar and there was so much we had in common that we just because the best of friends. I can’t put into words what Donna means to me and I decided to make her my first shoutout because she’s very active on both her Instagram and her blog.

She’s very good at following her themes and choosing them to begin with. She currently has a rose gold kind of one going on and it’s beautiful.

Before this beautiful theme, she had a very Christmas-y one going that, again, was gorgeous. If I could take pictures half as good as hers, I would feel so accomplished in life.

She’s currently a rep for both BibliophilePrints and JemlinCreations. Make sure to check out both shops and use her codes.

She posts on her blog nearly, if not, every day. Along with posting daily on her Instagram, being a momma to an army of wonderful children, and fighting to be the best person she can be. She deserves all of the love and recognition.

So please, make sure to follow her Instagram and blog. Spam her with likes and comments. Dm her and strike up a conversation. Do all of the things to show her that she’s loved and appreciated because she definitely is.

So that’s it for this one. Again, make sure to follow and spam her. Next week will be a new shoutout and I’m currently planning my January ones so make sure you keep an eye out for those.

Those shoutouts I choose ahead of time, but the Instagram ones will be whoever participates in First Lines Friday. This past one is already over, but make sure you’re following me here for the next one!

Thanks so much for joining me and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for my December book haul! Not including Christmas books.

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you all in the comments! Bye!

First Lines Friday: Dec 27, 2019

Good morning everyone! Today is First Lines Friday! First Lines Friday was started by Wandering Words and I’m really excited to join in!

That being said, I did put a little twist on it. So, I’m doing Shoutout Saturdays on here and on Instagram. FLF will be directly related to my Instagram shoutouts. My blog shoutouts will be focused on one single person or shop. It could be an author, bookstagrammer, book blogger, booktuber. shop, other, or all of the above.

But for my Instagram shoutouts, I’ll only be shouting out other Bookstagrammers. The rules for this include:

  • If tMust be a public profile
  • Must be a book related instagram
  • Must have mostly your own photos (this can be taken yourself or made yourself, but I don’t want reposters or the like. Every once in a while is fine, but I want to shoutout the people who post their own stuff)
  • Size doesn’t matter here. You can have 3 followers of 3,000.
  • Must guess the book correctly
  • Comment on this blog post with your guess and your instagram handle!
  • Each post “closes” at midnight on Saturday. So you have from 8am until 11:59pm to guess!
  • If too many people guess correctly, I’ll be limiting the amount to 5 shoutouts. But sometimes I will go over that. Or if I miss a FLF, I’ll go back to the last one and shoutout anyone who I didn’t the week before.
  • You can be shouted out multiple weeks. Just know if I shouted you out the week before and I put a limit on the shoutouts, I’ll be choosing someone else. That way other people get a chance.

I think that’s it for the rules. So let’s get into the first lines Friday!! I’ll announce what the book was in my Saturday Instagram post so make sure your following me over there! The limits on shoutouts most likely won’t happen. Unless I get like 20 correct guesses. Then I may have to.

On a drowsy Sunday afternoon, a man in a long dark coat hesitated in front of a house on a tree-lined street. He hadn’t parked a car, nor had he come by taxi. No neighbor had seen him strolling along the sidewalk. He simply appeared, as if stepping between one shadow and the next.

There you go! Guess the book in the comments for a chance to be shouted out in my Shoutout Saturday Instagram post!

Thanks so much for joining me and good luck. I chose an easy one this week. Sometimes they will be harder so be warned! They won’t be too hard though. I’m not a monster.

See you all tomorrow and until then, let’s chat in the comments! Bye!

I Should Have Read That Book Tag | Tag Tuesday

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season. Today I’m going to be doing the I Should Have Read That Book Tag.

I saw this originally on Lala’s Book Reviews and you can check out their post here.

Here are the rules:
• Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post
• Link to the creator’s blog ( in your post
• Answer the questions below
• Tag 10 others to take part

Before getting into this, please make sure to follow me on Instagram (linked in the photo below). I stay more up to date there with my reading and life stuff there. So if something happens and I can’t get a post up, you’ll know there first. So please follow! I’ll be eternally grateful.

A book that A certain friend is always telling you to read

This is actually a tough one. There aren’t really too many books that are frequently recommended to me that I haven’t read. At least not that I can remember. The only one is a series my brother tells me I need to read, but I don’t remember the name and I’m pretty sure we both know I’ll never read it.

A book thats been on your tbr forever and yet you still havent picked it Up

There are so many, but the one that I think has been on there the longest would be The Great Gatsby. I keep wanting to read it and I think 2020 would be the perfect year for that. Anyone interested in a group/buddy read? Message me on Instagram!

A book in a series you’ve started but haven’t gotten around to finishing Yet

Two Dark Reigns. I don’t remember what happened in the bit that I read so I’ll have to restart it. But I do want to finish that series sooner rather than later.

A classic YOU’VE always liked the sound of, but never actually read

I was going to say The Scarlet Letter, but I read a manga classic version of that. So I’m going to have to go with Fahrenheit 451. I’m so interested in reading that book, but holy crap I really don’t like classics so I keep putting it off. Maybe another buddy read?

A Popular book that it seems everyone but you have read

Nevernight. I know that not everyone has read this, but so many of my friends have and I just need to get to it!

Also, honorable mention to A Darker Shade of Magic. I listened to it, but literally don’t remember anything past the beginning world building. Sooooo.. yeah.

amzn_assoc_ad_type = “banner”; amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”; amzn_assoc_region = “US”; amzn_assoc_placement = “assoc_banner_placement_default”; amzn_assoc_campaigns = “audiblegiftmemberships”; amzn_assoc_banner_type = “category”; amzn_assoc_p = “48”; amzn_assoc_isresponsive = “false”; amzn_assoc_banner_id = “0H19Q7AG4V8GED6WJ9G2”; amzn_assoc_width = “728”; amzn_assoc_height = “90”; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “acourtofboo05-20”; amzn_assoc_linkid = “68422e32776269eeb3cba2344ecdb9ef”; //

A book that inspired a film/Tv adaptation that you really love, but you haven’t read it yet

A lot of the anime I’ve seen are like this. Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club, and loads more I can’t think of right now. I would really like to get to finishing reading this manga so I can get more of these characters and these stories. Especially since I’ve heard Death Note goes more into some characters at the end that the anime seemed to mostly gloss over.

A book you see all over instagram but HAVEN’T picked up yet

Renegades. One Day in December. American Royals. The list goes on.

So that’s it for this one! It was quick. I’m going to be breaking the rules and not officially tagging anyone because even though I have been blogging for a while now, I feel like I still don’t have my footing. Especially with making friends with people who are willing to be tagged. I have a few but yeah.

If you’re reading this, count yourself as tagged. You’re welcome.

Thanks so much for joining me and I do hope to see you all in the next one! Bye!

Cram-a-thon TBR | December 2019

Good morning everyone. I didn’t realize cramathon started literally yesterday until, well, yesterday. So I’m sharing my TBR today on a day I wouldn’t normally be posting. Which is fine!

So I am only at 124 of my 150 books according to goodreads. Honestly I don’t even know how correct that is anymore. I haven’t been updating it. I plan on updating a list on my computer/iPad more often than goodreads for next year. But I have to read a lot if I want to complete that goal. So cheesy romance audiobooks, manga, and poetry collection are going to be my friends. Or books I am close to finishing.

So here’s my “official” tbr for Cram-a-thon even though I plan to hopefully read more.

I’m nearly done with Christmas Wish, so I will definitely be finishing that during this readathon. I also would like to get to Snowed in Love before Christmas.

I got both of these books for review from Give Me Books Promotions, but I didn’t get to them before the release of Snowed in Love.

Another two that I got for review. These two come out in January and I would really like to get to them before the year is over so I can keep myself more ahead of my arcs.

Queen of Nothing will be going toward the challenge of reading a “frosty” cover. I have started it, but I’m only 50 pages in. Everyone I know that has read it has said it’s a super quick read. So I’m hoping for that.

For the book under 200 pages I’m going to be reading I Find You in the Darkness.

The She Book is going toward the shortest book on my TBR.

For the author with the same first letter of their first name as me, I’m going an extra step and doing the whole first name and last initial with Christmas Wish.

For the illustrations in the book and the 2019 release, I’m going to look into some Amanda Lovelace and also some manga. This will help me reach my goal.

For 7 books, I’m hoping to read The White Christmas Inn.

So in other words, lots of poetry collections and quick fun reads like romances. I still like to believe I can complete my goal, but I also know there’s no way. I’d have to read almost 3 books a day to hit that. Wish me luck.

Thank you all so much for joining me today. I’m hoping one of these days to get back into YouTube but for now, I’m going to continue to show my blog the love it deserves and you all the same love.

I’m going to be starting “theme” days on my Instagram for the captions and I’m hoping to do almost the same here. I’d like to start posting daily and the theme days can help with that. Some posts will be more in depth, some will be short and sweet.

So to do this, I need your help. Comment down below with anything you would like to see me posting about. I’m open to trying some new things. It doesn’t necessarily have to be book related. I have lots of things I would be willing to talk about so you’ll never know without suggesting!

I’ll see you all in the next one! Bye!

January 2020 Anticipated Releases

Good morning everyone! Time to talk about stuff happening next year. That’s right. We’re discussing releases during January that I’m excited for. The first releases into the new year, new decade!

Im going to be discussing books, Korean dramas, anime, manga, movies, tv shows, and anything else I’d be interested in. All of these may not be included in this month’s post, though. It just depends on whether I’m interested in anything coming out.

That being said, make sure you stick around to the end for the books that I’m going to be preordering and stuff I actually plan on watching as it comes out. Just because I’m excited for everything, doesn’t mean I have the time to watch it all.

So let’s start with honorable mentions. These are honorable because they are being released in January but I plan on reading them before then as I got arcs of these two books.

Click on the book’s cover to add it to your GoodReads. Below is my Amazon affiliate Link if you’d like to preorder it as well.

Honorable Mentions

This book follows a bookstore employee after she learns that the bookstore is going to become a part of a larger bookstore company. The risk assessor comes to the shop to see if it will be worth the risk and the two of them do not mix well. This seems like it’s going to be a cute hate to love romance. Keep an eye out closer to the release on Jan 13th for my review.

This book is a second chance romance about a bridesmaid/maid of honor and the best man. This is the second book in the series and the wedding is of the two characters in the first. So I highly recommend checking out The Best Friend Problem first. I got that one for review when it came out and I really enjoyed it! This comes out the 20th.

Books I’m Anticipating

This follows two people, two businesses, and an epic twitter battle. This comes out on the 21st.

This book tells of a softball star who loses everything because she punched someone during the most important game of the year. Grey, the star quarterback who is out due to an injury, concocts a plan to have Liv be his temporary replacement. Now he just needs to coach her. This comes out Jan 7th.

This book follows a married couple, several years down the line, when their marriage isn’t what it used to be. So the two of them decide to go to counseling and seek help to fix their marriage. This comes out Jan 14th and is the sequel to Fix Her Up.

Movies in Theaters

Korean Dramas

This show tells of a man who can look into someone’s eyes and see the moment before they die. He uses this to team up with a detective and find a serial killer.

I’m mainly interested because I really enjoy Ok Taecyeon (who is playing the main character). I love watching anything he’s in, despite me not being caught up on his stuff.

The Game: Towards Midnight starts in January and will go until sometime in March. There will be 32 episodes and will air Wednesday’s and Thursdays, each day having 2 back-to-back 30 minute episodes on MBC.

This show is about a makeup artist and an idol trainee who is booted from the program. After being booted, she starts working as an assistant under the makeup artist.

I think that this is going to be a fun romantic comedy and I’m really excited for it.

This show is going to be starting Jan 3rd and currently has planned for 16 episodes. It will be airing Fridays and Saturdays.

Now I’m going to end the list there. There weren’t any manga or anime that I was really interested in and I really wanted to get this post up so let’s talk what I’m going to be watching and preordering.

I will be trying to watch the Kdramas as they come out. But we’ll see how well that goes. As for the books, I’ll be preordering the arcs I got, if they have physical copies and I rate them 4 or 5 stars. As for the other releases, I will be preordering Tweet Cute and Throw Like a Girl. The reason I’m not doing the last one is because I haven’t read the first book yet. I will hopefully get it soon and get to it soon.

But for now, that’s it! Let me know what releases you’re excited for!

I’ll see you all in the next one. Have a wonderful week. Bye!

20 Backlist Books I Think I’ll Love in 2020

Good morning everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about books from my TBR that I plan on reading in 2020. But also, these are book that I think I’ll love. It’s pretty much my 5 star predictions for 2020 but I don’t like calling it that because I don’t give 5 stars often.

But these are the 20 books I would like to read in 2020. They are in no particular order. Just how I thought about them.

Sorry that this post is going up so much later than planned. But let’s just get into the task of the day.

Task of the Post (Get Your Life Together)

So I’m going to focus on my goal of decluttering for the rest of this to give you all examples. Last post I said to make a list of tasked that need to be done to reach that goal. So I’m breaking decluttering down into different areas. Then breaking it down into tasks below those areas.

A bit of a wrench has been thrown into my original plan so I’m having to rearrange things. Im only going to share overall tasks as to make this not as long as it could be.

  • Living room (including books and closet)
  • Bathroom
  • Kitchen
  • Bedroom
  • Spare room
  • Electronics (stuff on my phone, computer, email, ipad, etc)

Now that you have the tasks, break things down by time. When do you want to have each task done by?

I’m going to make these tasks into separate posts from now on. So the next one will be a separate post. Keep an eye out.

Thanks for joining me and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye!
