February & Readathin TBR | 2020

Well, good morning everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful week and now we are looking forward to the weekend!

Today I’m going to discuss my TBR for Readathin. Now, I ended up filming the video for my TBR a few days ago and I’ve finished some of these books already, so you’ll be hearing about them in my wrap up.

So make sure you check out my wrap up when that comes out to see what books I read in January from this list.

So I didn’t post the video, but I decided to change how I’m doing my TBRs. I’m going to go through my new setup, and then go through the Readathin challenges and show you what books I’ve chosen for those! Just be warned, there are a ton of books.

Readathin TBR

So that’s it! If you want to see how these books I mentioned fit into each challenge for Readathin, then go check out my video. Also, don’t forget to comment on either the video or this post letting me know what you plan on reading!

Thanks so much for joining me and I’ll see you all in the next one! Bye!

Tarot Reading for February | Mind, Body, Spirit

Good morning everyone. I’m trying to get back on track here. I just have been behind on everything lately and I am beating myself up over it because there’s no reason. So here’s to me doing better.

But I decided to do a tarot reading for February. I drew 3 cards. One for mind, one for body, and one for spirit. When drawing for body, a second card felt the need to come out so I drew that one as well.

Let’s take a look at what I got.

Mind – The Hanged Man

So, not initially a good one. But I’m also very new to tarot, so let’s see what it means.

So, according to the app that I use to find out the meanings of the cards, The Hanged Man is about self-sacrifice to move forward.

I think this is interesting because I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress with school and applying for internships. I haven’t turned any in because I am honestly scared of taking this next step. I think this is a sign that good things will come when I take the plunge and deal with the “consequences.” There’s also a lot going on at my current job that’s been on my mind so it could have to do with that.

Body – The Tower; The Wheel of Fortune

So, The Tower isn’t a good card inherently, but it can lead to good things. It talks about complete destruction, but that can also lead to new beginnings.

The Wheel of Fortune is about things that are out of human control and full circles in life. So I’m interested because of everything going on with my body and what this could mean for February.

Spirit – Page of Pentacles

This card is all about new journeys and such. I think this is interesting because I’m really connecting with myself lately and I’m looking more into Wicca/Wiccan stuff and it just really connects with me. So I think this is a sign I’m heading down the right path to better understand myself.

Judging by this reading, February is going to be a month of sacrifices and growth. Change and new beginnings. I’m interested to see how this all plays out, but I think February, while it’s going to be a tough month, is going to end up being a beneficial one to me.

Let me know if you do tarot and can help me better understand this reading. I know I’m probably doing it “wrong,” but I feel the whole point is that I connect with the cards and do readings the way I feel comfortable and feel right. But if I’m misinterpreting any of the meanings, I’d like to know.

Let me know if you’re Wiccan and some resources you have used in becoming and understanding the person you are.

Thanks everyone for joining me and remember that it’s not too late to grow. Just because you thought you understood yourself before, doesn’t mean that there’s not more to learn. Explore and discover.

I’ll see you all soon. Bye!

Coffee Over Books Announcement | Coffee Over Cardio Barista Babe

Good evening everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day and got a chance to check out my last post. This one is going to be a really quick one.

I just want to introduce a new series that I’ve been doing kind of already but I haven’t really given a name to it.

I’m going to be doing a “series” where I just talk about things other than books. But in those posts, I will be sharing with you all some coffee I’m drinking.

The main idea for this series is because I’m an ambassador for a company called Coffee Over Cardio.

It’s a women run coffee company. There are so many different flavors from just plain ole coffee to pumpkin spice to birthday cake. There’s also march like shirts and cups along with some products you may need to make your coffee a bit extra like I like it.

I tried out this company and knew immediately that I wanted to be an ambassador for it. So I applied and got it! I’ve been posting a bit on my Instagram about it, but I wanted to make a formal announcement here.

These posts will not be sponsored by the company, but if you do buy from them using my affiliate link or the code 10COURTOFLOVE at checkout, you will save and I will get a portion of the proceeds to go toward feeding into my coffee addiction.

So for the purposes of this post, I’m going to talk about the Pumpkin Spice coffee they have.

Currently this coffee is on sale and you can use my code to save more! I got this one and I’ve been drinking it every day using my reusable kcup and there’s still so much left! Definitely worth it for me and I think you’d say so as well.

I have an order coming in today so make sure you all go check out my Instagram stories to see what I got! Definitely some exciting things.

Please make sure you use my link or code if you decide to buy anything.

Now, back to this series. I will be using this series to talk about things outside of books. Whether that be life in general or something else. Comment below or DM me with any post ideas or things you would like for me to discuss.

Go to my Instagram stories to participate in the Q&A I’ll be doing for the first official post! I think I’ll make these weekly every Sunday. So make sure you all are following me to see more.

Thank you all so much for joining me and I hope to see you all in the next post! Have a wonderful day!

See you all soon. Bye!

First Haul of the Year

Good afternoon everyone. Another post going up later than planned. I meant to have a video going up as well, but it’s not transferring to my iPad and I don’t have the time to edit it right now, unfortunately. I got behind, which is fine.

I meant for this to go up yesterday but WordPress was being strange on my iPad so I just stopped trying and hung out with my boy.

But I’m definitely going to share my haul with you all! I have some exciting books to talk about.

So let’s get into it.

The Shadows Between Us

“They’ve never found the body of the first and only boy who broke my heart. And they never will.” Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:  1) Woo the Shadow King. 2) Marry him. 3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself. No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it. But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen―all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

Just Friends

Someone should have warned me about falling in love with my best friend.
Little did I know when Rex came to my locker attempting to bribe me, that he’d turn into my everything. We’d become best friends. I’d steal his heart. He’d steal mine. Nothing has changed in the years of our friendship.  Not our connection, not our feelings, or that we still hold each other’s hearts.  But his heart isn’t the only thing I’ve kept. The secret I’m hiding could shatter the only man I’ve ever loved.
I’ve loved Carolina since the day she called my bluff.  Our friendship always came first.  She believed in me when no one else did.  I tucked away my feelings because I couldn’t survive a life without her.  We crossed the line once, and I swore it’d never happen again.  As time passes, the harder it becomes to live up to that promise.  Until finally, there’s no holding back.

The Demigod Complex

When Lyleia Naiad was head-hunted by Brimstone, Inc., for her job as Executive Assistant to a high-powered billionaire demigod, she was given one directive—do NOT fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. Doesn’t matter if he’s the son of Zeus and can electrify a room with a single glance. As an ex-nymph, she possesses a unique ability—a gift from the goddesses to protect nymphs from the randy gods—to resist her boss’s charms. Or so she thought. He insists she accompany him to an alpha wolf shifter mating ceremony, an event where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes…and inhibitions. Goddesses save her, because Castor has stolen into Lyleia’s heart, and she’s not so sure she can hold out much longer…

The Best Man Problem

Lilly Walsh is used to keeping things buttoned-up and aboveboard. After all, the last time she hooked up with someone in a wedding party, it nearly cost her her wedding planning business. Thankfully, those rules don’t apply when she meets a handsome stranger in a hotel bar. One bad pirate joke leads to the best night of her life, but come morning, she’s got a wedding to plan. Lincoln Reid never imagined he’d see the woman who rocked his world last night and then ran out on him ever again. But there she is, planning his best friend’s wedding with the same passion and drive that brought him to his knees. She’s adamant that wedding planner and best man can never mix, but that just means he’s got four weeks to make her see him as more than just a one-night guy. Because he’s itching for more than one night…or five, or ten…

Tweet Cute

Meet Pepper, swim team captain, chronic overachiever, and all-around perfectionist. Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming ― mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account.
Enter Jack, class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time. All’s fair in love and cheese ― that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitter war. Little do they know, while they’re publicly duking it out with snarky memes and retweet battles, they’re also falling for each other in real life ― on an anonymous chat app Jack built. As their relationship deepens and their online shenanigans escalate ― people on the internet are shipping them?? ― their battle gets more and more personal, until even these two rivals can’t ignore they were destined for the most unexpected, awkward, all-the-feels romance that neither of them expected.

Throw Like a Girl

When softball star Liv Rodinsky throws one ill-advised punch during the most important game of the year, she loses her scholarship to her fancy private school, her boyfriend, and her teammates all in one fell swoop. With no other options, Liv is forced to transfer to the nearest public school, Northland, where she’ll have to convince their coach she deserves a spot on the softball team, all while facing both her ex and the teammates of the girl she punched… Every. Single. Day.  Enter Grey, the injured star quarterback with amazing hair and a foolproof plan: if Liv joins the football team as his temporary replacement, he’ll make sure she gets a spot on the softball team in the Spring. But it will take more than the perfect spiral for Liv to find acceptance in Northland’s halls, and behind that charming smile, Grey may not be so perfect after all.

Owlcrate and Book Outlet

So, I didn’t end up posting my OwlCrate unboxing just yet and I don’t want to spoil what the book is for anyone who hasn’t gotten theirs yet. So, just know I got the Owlcrate book this month.

Along with that, I also got a BookOutlet order. Click here to see my unboxing blog post.

But that’s it for this post! I don’t plan on getting anymore books this month and I don’t think I have anymore arcs that I would be getting. So that’s it! I hope.

Let me know if you want to buddy read any of these books!

Thanks so much for joining me and remember that retail therapy may help for the time being, but it’s not going to help in the long run. Find other ways to satiate your moods outside of spending money on unnecessary things. You can do it.

See you all soon! Bye!

Things I Want To Learn

Good evening everyone! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m graduating in June. While I plan on starting internships, I also don’t want to stop learning.

I feel like I’ve been in school for so long that I just can’t stop myself now. I need to keep learning. So I’m going to share with you all a few classes I’d like to take through the website, Alison. This isn’t sponsored (though I wish it was). It’s just a website I’ve been meaning to check out for a while.

The first thing I’d like to learn is French. I took French in high school but I had a bad teacher so I don’t remember much of it. I’d love to be able to speak French.

Honestly if they had ASL, I’d learn that too. I’d love to learn ASL.

I’d also really like to learn some graphic design. I make a lot of graphics for this blog and I’d like to improve those for you all. So taking a free course on graphic design would help me there.

There are a few journalism classes I’d like to take. As a blogger I know that they will only improve the posts that I’m putting out for you all.

If you didn’t know, I’m vegan. So food is something I take into account OFTEN. I would really like to learn more about nutrition, especially since my husband wants to go to school for it when he decides to go back.

Mental health is something that is so freaking important to me. Between me being in touch with my mental health and me wanting people to know they aren’t alone in how they are feeling, I’d really like to dive deeper into mental health and how it affects people.

So, not through Alison, but I’d really like to learn more about different crystals and their uses. Along with that, the moon and how it affects people. I’ve been feeling really connected to the moon lately and I don’t know what it is. I definitely would like to look more into pretty much anything Wiccan and see if I connect with it the same way I do now.

There’s a ton more that I would like to learn, but these are just a few that I would like to prioritize in the coming year. It will all depend on how internships and working goes, though. I’m hoping to send out some resumes today and I’m freaking out about it.

Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you all have a wonderful day and week.

Mondays are hard on all of us. Take the time to sit down and relax after getting back into the work week. Don’t stress out over getting everything done that needs to be done. It will get done.

See you all in the next one! Bye!

Chocolate Mid-Season Check-in | Spoiler-Free K-drama Review

Good morning everyone! Welcome back. I’m so glad you’re joining me today to discuss this Korean drama. I’m really loving this change of pace for me, but I’m also really sucking at balancing my time. So it’s something I will be working on in the coming weeks.

But that being said, I just finished episode 8 of Chocolate on Netflix! So I figured I’d hop on here and give you all my updated thoughts.

So, I’m going to keep this spoiler-free, but I would like for you all to take a moment to read this. There are definite trigger warnings in this drama.

  1. Attempted suicide. One of the characters in episode 6 or 7 ends up attempting to commit suicide. If that’s something you’re sensitive about, then steer away.
  2. Also, in relation to that, there’s a lot of negativity surrounding the attempt. The character is called selfish for attempting.
  3. There is a lot of death of all ages and shown on screen. There’s children and adults, both shown on screen. So just know that you’ll be crying every episode and wanting to hold the people you love closer.
  4. PTSD/Anxiety/Panic Attacks/etc. The main character went through something that caused her to have PTSD and she has what I would say was a panic attack, but they don’t actually call it that. She has anxiety along with the PTSD because of what happened.

I think those are all of the main ones. I don’t think anything else really has happened that would lead me to feeling the need for trigger warnings. If you’ve seen this and you think of anymore, let me know so I can add them in.

My thoughts

I’m loving this kdrama. I just want to continue watching it, but I have to do other things as well so it’s been rough going.

I really love cheesy romance dramas or more adult soap opera-esque ones. But these hard hitting, I’m crying every episode ones. They really hit me. Some of the first K-dramas I ever watched I remember because of the moments that made me cry over the ones that were just cute.

If you like Grey’s Anatomy or any of the Chicagos (Fire, MD, PD, etc), I would say give this a shot. There are times my tiny mind is confused, but normally they have a little caption that explains different medical terms they are using for those who may not know.

It’s interesting seeing the depth within each character. But I would have to say that I feel like the overall story arc is weak. There’s nothing really keeping me going to the next episode within the story arc itself. I’m loving this and continuing to love it because it’s emotional and I’ve come to care about these characters and I want them all to get to their happy ending.

But the story is just a minor mention of family drama and the romance between the two main characters. I’m hoping since the first half focused a lot on that, the second half will put more of a focus on the story. It seemed to be heading that way, but we’ll see. The story isn’t over yet and NOTHING has been solved. So we’ll see!

But that’s going to be it for this one. I’m going to go take a nap now. But I will be continuing this drama and I will be making sure I post a full spoiler-free and spoiler-y review. So make sure you all keep an eye out for that hopefully sometime next week.

Thanks so much for joining me and please remember that it’s okay to cry sometimes. If you’re feeling down and don’t know how to make yourself feel better, just try to cry it out. Whether you take a hot shower and cry to your hearts desire or binge watch videos or shows that make you cry. Just try to cry it out and see if it helps. Like I said, it’s okay to cry. Don’t hold back for the sake of being “strong.” Admitting you don’t always have to be strong is the first step in being stronger.

Have a wonderful weekend! Bye!

Readathin Announcement! | Round 11

Hey everyone! How are you all doing? I hope you’re doing well. It’s time to share the challenges for the February 2020 round of Readathin!

So, for those of you that don’t know, things have changed up a bit for Readathin this round and for further notice. I’m, obviously, still hosting Readathin, but joining me this round is Donna from @MomsBookCollection 😁

I’m so excited to be hosting this with her. We host another readathon together that is only held once a year so I’m excited the two of us will be working on this together.

Donna has been around since the beginning and has supported this readathon so much. We have some fun things coming this round!

Readathin is a month long readathon that is held in February, May, August, and November every year. I’ve been doing this for a couple years and its had its ups and downs, but we’re here in 2020 with some nice changes and hopefully Readathin will continue to grow.

The goal for Readathin is to “thin” out your TBRs. The idea sprouted when I was replying to a tweet one day and accidentally typed readathin instead of readathon. Then I made a joke about a readathon and thus Readathin started.

While you can read any books you have on your TBR, the main purpose of the readathon is to read books from your physical TBR (or eTBR since we all know those can get out of hand as well).

During February your goal is to read as many books that you already own as you can! Obviously, don’t force yourself to read more than you’re comfortable with. Take the time to enjoy the books, but also make sure you’re working on your physical TBR.

Readathin has taken the plunge and has joined Instagram! We figured that since we have a photo challenge, it would be more organized to have an Instagram where we can share news and any photos that you all share.

We also have a Twitter, but I will be the first to admit I suck at keeping up with Twitter. So there’s a high likelihood that the Twitter will slowly trickle out. But for now, it’s still there and still going!

Now, onto the thing you all actually care about. The challenges!

There are more challenges than normal, but I want to emphasis that you DON’T HAVE TO DO THEM ALL. Don’t feel overwhelmed. You don’t have to do any of the challenges if you don’t want to.

Feel free to save this template and use it in your Instagram stories to keep track of the challenges you’ve completed.

And here’s the photo challenge!

Feel free to save and share these! If you have any questions on any of these challenges, don’t hesitate to ask! Send one of the hosts a message or one on the Readathin Instagram.

I really hope that you all can join us! It’s going to be a fun time!

Thanks for joining me! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Stop whatever you’re doing and find a mirror or even use the front camera on your phone.

Out loud, tell yourself 5 positive things about yourself. Talk like you’re best friend is having a bad day and you’re trying to make them feel better.

Because you should be your own best friend. You should be the best friend that empowers. Be your own best friend. Be your own rock. You are stuck with you, so accept your flaws and love yourself for them.

See you all soon! Bye!

Decluttering My Life: Week 4 Check-in

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful beginning of the week and continue to for the last half of the work week. If you didn’t have a great start to the week like me, then I hope the second half looks up.

What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed?

One of the things I do is sit down and come up with a plan. So that leads us into today’s post. We’re going to do a check-in with how I’m doing with my decluttering.

We’re into the fourth week of the year. The third full week, but the fourth week.

And I haven’t decluttered anything. Some of my son’s toys but I also had those packed up and ready before this year hit. He found the box and started digging through it so we got rid of it.

The question of the day comes into play with the lack of decluttering that I’ve done. I’m feeling overwhelmed. January is almost over and I feel like I haven’t been working toward my life goals. Reading, yes. Life, no.

So I’m going to make up a plan for the rest of this month and one for next month. We plan on moving out of our apartment in July so the less stuff we have to move, the better.

Plan of Action

There are 5 months that I would use for decluttering. February through June. And I have broken my apartment and life into 6 categories. One will be done this month.

January will be focused one general cleaning rather than organizing and decluttering, but I’m not going to let myself not declutter something so I’ll be focusing on my electronics.

My phone, iPad, and laptop. I’ll be moving documents off those and moving them to my external hard drive. I’ll be going through. The hard drive and try to organize it in a way that makes things easier to find when they are needed.

February will be focusing on the kitchen, March the living room, April the bedroom, May the playroom/library, and June will finally be the bathroom and closets (in my hallway and living room/entrance.

So that’s my general idea. For now, I’m going to share with you all the checklist that I’m going to use to track my progress with decluttering my electronics.

If you all want more graphics like that one, let me know and I can make them over my journey. I’m more of a visual person and I love making lists, so this will definitely help me out a lot.

Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you all enjoyed this post. Let me know how you are trying to minimize in your life.

Have a wonderful second half of the week. Always remember that you’ve been through worse and you’re only dealt cards you can handle, no matter how impossible it may seem right now.

K-Dramas First Impressions: Chocolate Episode 1 & 2

Good morning everyone! I want to start incorporating my love of Asian dramas, anime, and tv shows into my blog, so I’m going to do just that here.

I currently have the current show I’m watching along with the next one that I’m going to binge. But after that, I’m going to allow you all to choose what I watch next.

Right now is the Netflix Korean drama, Chocolate.

Next up will be the show AJ and the Queen. I’ve watched the first episode and I really want to continue.

But right now, we’re discussing Chocolate.

This drama seems to follow two characters and their continuous crossing of each other’s paths. It’s a dark story and there are a lot of trigger warnings for death and war so know that going into this if you decide to.

So, I’m enjoying the story the most of anything. It’s gotten me intrigued and also crying on multiple occasions. I went into this hoping for a cute romance. I didn’t get that. This is heart-wrenching and I love it. I definitely will have to start reading synopsis more.

Hard-hitting K-dramas seem to be the ones that stand out the most in my mind, so they are ones that I tend to enjoy the most. I’m really hoping that this is the case with this one.

There are points where I have gotten confused. Whether that was just me trying to get back into the flow of the language or trying to understand the characters and storyline, I don’t know. The timeline is the main things that’s been confusing me, but I think I’m getting it now.

Characters and Actors

Okay, here’s the thing. I don’t think the acting is that great. Some points have been so poorly done I have wanted to laugh when I really shouldn’t. I don’t know if that’s just me, but I just can’t get past some of the acting. For the most part, it’s not an issue, but certain actors in certain scenes that are supposed to be dramatic and emotional just aren’t because of the poor acting.

It does take away from the story a bit, but I wouldn’t say for me personally that it’s something that will cause me to not be able to watch it. But if having good actors is something you really need in a K-drama (which I would recommend if you are new to them), then I would probably shy away from this one.

Overall, I would say that this is going to be a mediocre K-drama for me. If it continues the way it is, it’s probably going to be one that I would recommend if someone is asking about it, but not one that I would think of if someone is asking for K-drama recommendations in general.

The emotion that it pulls from me is really what’s going to get it for me. If I continue to cry and feel for these characters every episode, that’s going to be a good sign. But if the emotion tapers off, that’s not going to bode well.

That’s really all I have to say for now. I hope to do more of these and get a better hang on them. I’ll let you all know my final thoughts when I finish it. I’m going to try to watch another episode today before I take my nap (I’m writing this on Monday so hopefully I did just that).

Let me know anything you would like to me talk about in another first impressions, whether it be for Asian dramas, tv shows, or anime. Also, recommend some of each that you think I would enjoy.

Preferably if I can watch it on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, Viki, or Amazon Prime. And by preferably, I mean only if I can watch it on one of those. Crunchyroll is more for anime and Viki is for Asian dramas if you don’t know. And if you don’t know if I can find it, still recommend it. I’ll take a look.

Thanks so much for joining me! I hope you all enjoyed this and join me for more First Impression posts!
