Totally Didn’t Book Tag | Tag Tuesday

Good evening everyone! I hope you’re doing well. I know that right now is a tough time for everyone, so make sure you’re not only checking in with the people you  know, but that you’re also checking in with the people you’re comfortable with.

I personally am doing fine. I’m stressed out because I work retail, but I’m also making sure to stay strong and continue to show people that it’s going to be alright.

Other than that I’ve been fairly sick over the weekend. I was hoping that it was good news, but as always, it wasn’t. But I’ll be fine. I just need to take a nice hot shower today after my boy leaves to go with his grandma.

That being said, it’s Tag Tuesday, so let’s do the Totally Didn’t Book Tag.

I found this tag on World of Books and it was created by BookswithEmilyFox on YouTube. So let’s just get into this.

Totally didn’t need to have a sequel/sequels

Honestly, most of the time, this is the prequel series or series that continue YEARS after they have finished. But the main one that comes to mind is Harry Potter.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Wasn’t necessary and honestly the second movie was kinda trash soooo…

Totally didn’t need to have more than one point of view

I honestly don’t think I have an answer for this one. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where I felt the other POV wasn’t necessary for some reason.

I also read a lot of romance and I like seeing the relationship develop from both sides.

Totally didn’t need to chance cover art through the middle of a series

The Diviners will always be my answer for this. What was the point in designing a new cover design for each and ever book release. It was a waste of money and resources. Not to mention the readers HATED it. I refused to buy them until they released the final book cover. Thankfully they stuck with the designs I liked. The picture below doesn’t even show those covers.

Totally didn’t need a love triangle

I hated that there was a bit of a love triangle in this. It felt kinda cheap. I still loved the book but was disappointed in the fact there was a love triangle.

totally didn’t need this book to be included in the series

Again, I don’t really have an answer for this. The closest would be A Court of Frost and Starlight and I can’t really say anything about that because I haven’t even finished it yet.

totally didn’t need a cliffhanger

Wow. I suck at this tag. No answer. Cliffhangers usually mean there’s going to be another book. Open endings are different and when they exist, they make sense. At least in my history.

Cliffhangers are meant to keep you interested. The more frustrating the cliffhanger, the more likely readers are to pick up the next book.

Totally didn’t need to have just one point of view

So, I appreciated this being one POV, but I would have ADORED seeing it from the Shadow King’s eyes.

totally didn’t need that much hype

Throne of Glass. It wasn’t that great. The beginning of the series I was invest. The further I got into the series, the less I cared about it. But there were still hardcore fans and so much hype around each and every book release.

totally didn’t need a relative book reference (Eg. For example: hunger games fan would love divergent)

So, I was just looking up one series because I remember someone calling a certain book a “YA Game of Thrones” and there’s a list. On that list (which can be found here), they have Shadow and Bone. I 100% disagree with that statement. Definitely not on the same level. (By the way, I think the one I was looking for was Falling Kingdoms which I haven’t read).

totally didn’t deserve my time

The. Valaint. I haven’t talked about my hatred for this book in so long. I absolutely DESPISED it.

I’m not even going to provide a photo because EFF THAT BOOK.

That’s it for this one! I hope you enjoyed. Let me know in the comments how you’re doing and if you agree with my answers or if you have some answers of your own!

If you haven’t done this tag, count yourself as tagged!

I’ll see you all in the next one. Bye!

    • Thanks so much 💜You stay safe as well and take care of yourself 💜 Yeah. I despised the cover changes with The Diviners. Not even because I hated the covers. They were all really nice. But they changed them with each release and then took the time to remake the covers of the previous books as well. So if people wanted matching covers, they’d have to buy the entire series multiple times. Thankfully I didn’t know about them until after this trend was realized so I was able to refrain from buying the whole series. Now I can though!
