May TBR | Readathin & Tome Topple Round 11

Good evening everyone! I hope you’re doing well on this lovely Tuesday. I can’t believe it’s already Tuesday. I wasted away Monday without even realizing it, but it was needed and nice.

Today I’m going to be getting into my TBR for May. These are going to be the books that I plan on reading for Readathin and Tome Topple.

I ended up filming a very sporadic TBR, but I’ve made changes to that so I have to refilm that one. So my video will be going up later than planned. I plan to have a 24hr reading vlog going up today! Step 1: actually edit it.

But let’s get into my TBR!

Tome Topple TBR

King of Scars

This is the May Buddy Read for May. It’s technically starting before Tome Topple stars, but we’re going to be finishing it during Tome Topple so I’m counting it. If you want to join, check out my announcement post for more information.

This book follows Nikolai, the king of Ravka, from the Grishaverse. He was one of my favorite characters from Shadow and Bone so I’m really excited to see where this book goes. I don’t know much else about it besides the fact it follows him.

This book is 511 pages. It will be going for the Tome Topple challenge of reading a book that’s part of a series.

Night Film

This is another book that I don’t really know much about. I know that it’s highly loved by a lot of people and that it’s told in a unique format. And it’s been on my TBR for WAY too long.

Night Film is 592 pages long. This book is going for the Tome Topple challenges of a standalone tome and an adult tome. This book is going to be going for the Readathin challenge that is chosen by someone else. My son chose this one!

This book will be reread for me so it won’t be counting toward Readathin. I’m rereading it so that it can count for a Romanceopoly challenge and because I didn’t like it much the first time. I’m hoping that going in with lower expectations than I did originally will help me to enjoy the book a bit more.

After Kady’s planet is attacked and Kady barely escaped, she teams up with her ex-boyfriend to try to not only fight off the people who attacked their planet, but also fight off something else that is killing off people on the ship. Told entirely in the form of documents and emails, this book was one that stood out to everyone and makes for a super unique listening experience.

Illuminae is 599 pages. This will be going for the Tome Topple challenges of an audiobook (if I don’t get Renegades) and tome from a genre I don’t usually read.

This one is tentative. I’m on hold from my library for the audiobok, so if that comes in during Tome Topple, then it’ll be read during the readathon. If it’s not, then I’ll read it whenever it comes in.

Are we surprised that I don’t know much about this? I only know it’s about superheroes, kinda maybe? I don’t know! I like going into books mostly blind!

Renegades is 552 pages. This book is going for the Tome Topple challenge of an audiobook (if it comes in).

There’s a chance this will have a couple more added to it, depending on what I end up requesting from Entangled Publishing as their upcoming releases are announced.

Cowboy For Hire

**I got this book from Entangled Publishing for my honest review**

This is a romance about a girl who runs a ranch and needs to hire someone to run it after the guy who used to left. She also wants him to teach her how to run the ranch so that she can take over. Except there’s something between the two of them that neither of them could have imagined.

This book came out at the end of March and I just haven’t had the chance to finish it! I definitely need to. This is a high priority, but not the highest on my TBR. The rest of these ARCs are my highest priority in May.

Always a Bridesmaid

**I got this book from Entangled Publishing for my honest review**
This book comes out May 26th.

But this one is about a woman who has been a bridesmaid more times than she ever imagined. She loves love and has been planning for wedding up until her long-time boyfriend left her for someone else. She ends up burning her plans, literally, and ends up having the fire department called. Then she ends up helping one of the firefighters to be a man of honor with her experience.

I’m really excited to read this one, but it’s the second in a standalone series. It can be read alone, but the characters from the first book will most likely show up in this book. So I got my hands on the first one for 99 cents on Amazon and I plan on reading that before I get to this one.

Could Be Something Good

**I got this book from Netgalley for my honest review**
This book comes out May 29th.

This book has a relationship between an older female, younger male and that’s what really captured my attention. Then again, so did the long haired blonde man on that cover. I can’t help myself when it comes to a long haired man.

Despite having all of these on my TBR, I don’t think I’ll get to most of them. I just kind of kept adding books and I couldn’t stop myself.

This is the second book after Renegades. My reading this only depends on if I can get the audiobook for it after I get the Renegades one.

The Language of Thorns
Ninth House
Perfectly Messy
Bring the Rain
A Court of Frost and Starlight
None of the Above
Goodbye Days

Other Reads

My Hero Academia Volumes 7-15
Love Handles
On the Fence

So, I’m probably forgetting some books and I know I probably won’t get to all of these books. But here’s to hoping! I’m really excited about all of these and they will count for a lot of challenges for my yearly goals!

Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you had a wonderful day! I’ll see you all soon.
