Weekly Update | April 25-31, 2020

Good morning everyone! I’m back from my mini-haitus. There was just a lot going on and I needed a few days off to get my crap back together and get ahead. But I’m back again and I plan on spending the week getting myself ahead of posts and videos.

That being said, Today I’ll be sharing how my reading went for the week and what I was watching. All that fun stuff.

Let’s get into it!

Any books that I read this week, I’ll go over and give brief thoughts and a synopsis. If you want to know more, check out my review by clicking on the photo to be brought to my Instagram review.

Books Read

This book follows Addison, who has always been “one of the guys” in her friend group of three other guys. Growing up they were a bunch of troublemakers, but the best of friends. Now they’re grown up and still all close friends, but their adult lives have separated them, more so in the case of Tucker.

Tucker moved away and gradually was losing contact with his friends. After one of them announces his engagement, Tucker decides to move back home again. But this leads to feelings between him and Addison to arise.

This is the first book in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series.

I really enjoyed this best friends to lovers story. It was a fun one and I couldn’t help but to root for these two to get together!

This mystery/suspense is about a detective who begins trying to solve what seems to be a serial killer who has returned to killing. Or is it just a copy cat?

I actually really enjoyed this book and I was honestly surprised. Detective stories usually aren’t my thing. I don’t really like to follow someone else trying to solve a crime. I prefer when the person is in the problem and a part of it. This one had a bit of that and I think that’s why I enjoyed it as much as I did.

(As of writing this my review is not up yet. Keep an eye out on my Instagram, though.)

**I got this book as an arc from Netgalley**

This book is a romance about an older female and younger male getting together. They both work in the same hospital, he is working directly under her mother and she’s a midwife.

I really enjoyed this book. It such a fun read and the main male character is dyslexic and it was interesting to see that. The next book follows his autistic brother, who is also a doctor and comes out in June!

(As of writing this my review is not up yet. Keep an eye out on my Instagram, though.)

This book follows a journalist as he digs deeper into the mysterious suicide of the daughter of a very popular director who makes very dark films.

This book was one of those that won’t leave you feeling satisfied. You’re left with more questions than answers, but it’s such an interesting feeling. It’s not left in a place where you hate that you don’t have the answers, making the book bad. It’s left in a way that you hate that you don’t have the answers but it’s supposed to be that way.

Just throwing this in here! Here was my favorite post from this past week. Not surprising, this wasn’t my top post, though. It was my 4st most liked, 4th with most engagement, and 5th with it’s reach. But it is the one with the most comments!

I asked in this post if anyone could guess any of these books. The only guess was The Raven King up in the top corner! Comment below with any guesses!

So, those were all of the books I ended up reading last week. I didn’t read any Webtoons or watch anything, besides maybe some My Hero Academia. But I don’t remember if that was last week or the week before. So, let’s get into the books I plan on reading this first week of June and what else I plan on working on.

So, not related to reading or anything, I want to start editing vlogs the night I film the footage. That way I’m not in the situation I am right now where I have to do it all in one night. So that’s just a little goal I have.

As for movies, I still want to work on some of those romances I’ve been trying to get through. Check out this post if you don’t know what I’m talking about. And I would like to make more progress in My Hero Academia, both the manga and anime. I’m trying to stay ahead in the manga, but it’s proving to be a bit hard when the episodes are just so easy to sit down and binge through.

As for Webtoons, it’s still the same ones I want to get through. Mage & Demon Queen and then Age Matters.

Now let’s talk about some books I would like to read this week.

Currently Reading

So, actually I’m only currently listening to an audiobook. I was physically reading a book, but it was a reread/buddy read that we were supposed to finish by the 31st, but I didn’t. So I’m not going to bother with it right now.

Yes!! I’m currently finally getting to A Court of Frost and Starlight. FINALLY. I’m almost 100 pages into it currently and I’m very happy with the progress I’ve made. I’ll hopefully finish this today (the day this is going up).

Physically Reading

I decided not to include Perfectly Messy in my currently reading because I had put it down to finish some other reads before the end of the month. So I’m going to be picking it back up and finishing it this week.

This is a buddy read that I’m going to start on the first with my friend. That’s really all.

I also plan on reading this this week for the BooksAfterDark buddy read. I don’t plan on finishing it this week, but I definitely want to start it.

Small Town, Big Secret is a book that I got from Entangled Publishing for my honest review. I plan on posting a full review for this book by the end of the week before it’s released next week. So obviously I have to read it first.

Always a Bridesmaid came out at the end of May but I didn’t end up getting to it before release. So I want to take the time to get to it after I finish Small Town, Big Secret. It’s another ARC that I got from Entangled Publishing.

The Unsung Hero was and audiobook I wanted to get to last month for Romanceopoly, but I didn’t get to.

Dating You Hating You is another Romanceopoly book from May that I want to get to.

Okay, don’t shame me! I have a few audiobooks on here and honestly Crave could end up being an audio listen as well. Diamond paintings make me want to listen to all the audiobooks! This is part of the book box challenge I have going. It’s one that I haven’t gotten to yet from that.

Aaaaand another romanceopoly book. This is the first one for June!

And that’s it! Will I get to all of these? Who knows. But I do plan on trying to get to at least most of them. There’s a few that I don’t know if I’ll finish this week and a few that I really NEED to finish this week. So it’s a mix and I have my priorities.

So, thank you all so much for joining me and I hope you all have a nice day. Stay safe.
