Books, K-Dramas, and Animal Crossing | Weekly Update July 6-12

Good morning everyone. I hope you all are doing well. I haven’t been here in a while. I’ve been in a weird place, especially here. I’m just behind on all the things. But I’m back again with my weekly update. I actually have some updates to share!!

So, let’s just get right into it. Make sure you comment with how you’ve been doing!

So, let’s start with the book that I finished this week. Technically I finished it at like 2-3am on Monday, but we’re counting it as a Sunday finish so I have something to talk about here.

I haven’t posted my review on Instagram yet, so I’ll talk about it briefly today. I ended up buddy reading this with a friend of mine and I finally finished it!

If you don’t know what this book is about, it follows a girl who has big plans of leaving her small town to move to the big NYC to study fashion design. But along comes the son of a very popular chef and due to the fact that his dad is helping her best friend’s dad with his restaurant and she works for the only flower shop in town, there are many events that they end up working together. It’s a really fun kind of hate to love romance.

So, I really enjoyed this one. It was exactly what I needed right now to work on getting out of my reading slump. I enjoyed the romance. It was not the best thing ever written or without flaws, but it’s one of those books that you’re not meant to be reading super analytically. It was fun and I really enjoyed it.

I ended up giving it 4 stars.

So, the only other things that I finished this week are two Kdramas. Okay, one and a half. Let’s talk about those really quick before we get into my plans for next week.

So, I had started this one so long ago and just never ended up finishing it. So I sat down and finally did this week.

This K-drama follows a woman who ends up having a one night stand and leaves before he wakes up. She runs into him 3 years later when she begins working as a dietitian in the company his father owns and he’s a boss at.

So, this story itself was fine. It was enjoyable enough for me, but I also just wasn’t really into it. Now, the main thing that bothered me was that every. single. freaking. kiss. Every time, there was a close up and slow motion. A couple times would have been fine. But it was like 5 minutes straight each time of close up, slow motion kissing. And it was just not something I was into.

I finished season 1 of this K-drama and I really enjoyed it!

This follows two best friends as she starts falling for his friend and he starts falling for the girl who lives in her old house that she was kicked out of. Oh, and the best friends live together.

So, I knew from the beginning which direction this story was going to go, but I was hoping that it wouldn’t. I don’t want to get too in depth with it because of spoilers. And if you can guess what I was thinking based on what I said, then you likely had already thought of it.

But I’m both sad about the direction it’s going, but also glad for it…? Does that even make sense? No. But here we are. I’m going to continue watching it because I really do enjoy the story so far and I think that if it’s going to be done, then I’m glad that they are handling it in a good way.

I will link both of these K-dramas photos to their MyDramaList pages. I would like to start using that website again to track my watching. If you’re from the book community, then just know it’s like a GoodReads for Asian Dramas. The ratings are out of 10 and have half ratings as well. It’s wonderful (at least it was when I used it) and I’m really excited to begin using it again. If you do and you know of a way of adding people, let me know and we can be friends!

Now the part I’m really excited about! Let’s take a look back at my Animal Crossing week. I was having so much fun taking pictures with all of my villagers! I hope you enjoy these photos as well!

I’m not going to have any set plans this week just because I planned on having this post up earlier in the week but that didn’t end up happening. I need to work on posting more. I’m going to say that I’ll take the rest of this week off from posting to try to get ahead and come back next week.

I’m reading more so there will hopefully be more to talk about.

Thanks so much for joining me. I’ll see you all soon!
