5 Things I Do While Listening to Audiobooks

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m going to be talking about 5 different things I do while listening to audiobooks. I also do this while watching TV shows that are in English and sometimes even just while listening to music.

But let’s get right into this and comment below with what you do while listening to audiobooks.

1. Diamond Paintings

Diamond Painting is the thing I do most while listening to audiobooks and watching TV shows. I specifically shared this photo because I was working on this Dreamer Designs diamond painting while listening to Take a Hint, Dani Brown.

I highly recommend buying through Dreamer Designs. They are a wonderful company and out of the few that I’ve tried, they are my favorite. Their canvas are sturdy, the glue is nice, and the diamonds/drills are extra sparkly.

I also recommend listening to Take a Hint, Dani Brown. But that’s neither here nor there.

I will say that diamond painting isn’t for everyone. It’s taxing on your back and wrists. Make sure you have a solid setup where you don’t have to slouch but can still see what you’re doing. I have known people of all ages to do this activity, but it’s definitely one that won’t be for everyone.

Dreamer Designs sells out really quick, but there seem to always be some options. Make sure you’re keeping any eye out for different designs and when they come back in stock. Because of COVID, things have been slower all around. But I’ve gotten both my orders in under 2 weeks. Also, Dreamer Designs has both round drills and square. So make sure you’re checking which one each design is.

2. Sudoku

When it comes to doing sudoku, I either do them in these sudoku books that I got for pretty cheap or I do them on the Puzzle Page app. Along with sudoku, this app has a bunch of other puzzle games and it’s a lot of fun. If you plan on playing this a lot, I do recommending getting the subscription to it. It’s pretty cheap and you can play pretty much unlimited games. Some of them cost the “currency” in the app, but if you play the free ones long enough, you’ll make enough that it won’t be a problem.

I’ve been doing Sudoku since 5th grade and doing then while listening to audiobooks is definitely become one of my favorite pastimes.

3. Play Animal Crossing

Look at Kabuki giving me side eye. He’s a pro at side eye and I love him for it.

Anway, Animal Crossing is one of those games that you don’t really need to be fully invested in while playing. There are so many things you can do that allow you to also listen to an audiobook. This is something I haven’t been doing a lot lately, but it’s something I still do and will probably be doing a lot today.

I posted recently a post about organizing Merengue’s house. If you’d like, I can do that again for my newest villager (who will be moving in tomorrow). Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see that. If you all want, maybe I’ll even include some video clips as well this time!

4. Cleaning

Cleaning is probably the thing I do the least while listening to audiobooks. I like to be very mindless while cleaning, which means I turn on music and just check out of my mind. I used to listen to books more often while cleaning and I know a lot of people enjoy listening to books while they clean, that’s why I wanted to mention it here.

If you have headphones or a nice speaker, turn on that audiobook and clean that house!

5. Coloring

Coloring is something I’m not very good at, but it’s definitely a calming and mindless activity that I like to do while listening to audiobooks. Because I’m not very good at coloring, I’ve been coloring on an app that, funnily enough, my grandma uses too.

It’s called Happy Color and out of all the apps I’ve tried, it’s by far my favorite. It used to be very basic color by number, but over time they’ve gotten different styles that add more depth to the coloring pages and doing them. I love these additions and they are some of my favorites to do.

I highly recommend checking out the app if you want to color, but you’re not very good at it. Plus the app is free with the option to pay to get rid of ads (I believe it’s a one time payment) and they have some coloring pages that you can pay for, though there are plenty that are free so there’s no worry about running out of pages to color without paying.

Another thing I like about this app is that there is a wide range of different coloring pages. Some are very basic and some are more intricate. My biggest problem with RL coloring is that all the adult coloring books were very intricate and just annoyed me. With this, I don’t mind them as much because I can zoom in and I don’t have to worry about coming up with a color scheme or anything.

And that’s it for this post! I really hope you all enjoyed. Make sure to comment with some things that you like to do while listening to audiobooks. I can’t seem to just listen or follow along in the book. I have to have something else going on. That’s probably part of my undiagnosed ADHD.

Anyway, I’m going to mention this briefly because I don’t want to talk about it all the time. I don’t expect anything from you all, but I have set up a Ko-fi account to accept donations from you all. I’ve been out of work since March and honestly don’t want to go back. I want to focus on my family, blog, and Instagram and you all. I have ads on here, but they don’t make me much of anything (and by that I mean currently they make me nothing).

If you are able to and want to, I will include a widget at the end of every post (and there’s one of the sidebar of my homepage) where you can donate to support me. Donations will be going toward life stuff and saving up for a camera and other things I would use for streaming, making videos, and improving my content.

Thank you in advance for all the support you all continue to give to me. I truly appreciate it and I can’t express how much it means to me. If there’s anything you’d like for me to provide to those who donate, let me know. Like special blog posts or reading certain books, reviewing certain shows or games. Anything!

Thank you again for continuing to support me and what I’m doing. I hope you all enjoyed this post and decide to stick around for future ones! Sorry this one went up so much later than other ones.

    • I love listening to audiobooks while doing mindless tasks. It helps me to focus on the audiobook more. Sometimes cooking and cleaning requires too much of my attention or I want to go completely mindless so I want music so I don’t have to focus on anything at all 😂

  1. I love Sudoku but I’ve never tried doing it while listening to an audiobook. A teacher of mine in high school introduced me to Sudoku and I’ve been doing them ever since. When I listen to an audiobook I will either be coloring using the same app you do or I will be following along in the book. Those are the main things I do. Every now and then I will listen to one while I’m doing my nails.

      • I definitely agree with you. I love doing my nails. The main reason I don’t do them much anymore is because they chip so easily and I just end up getting frustrated that they don’t last long after all the work I put in. I definitely need to do them again soon though.

    • I can definitely understand that. Certain organizing I have to be paying attention to. But I was watching a show and organizing diamond painting drills and that was fine. But if I’m organizing like paperwork or something, that’s different.

  2. I’m not big of audiobooks, but I LOVE podcasts, and I listen to those while I’m getting ready in the mornings, exercising and cooking mostly. Sometimes I listen to a podcast when I’m knitting too, if there’s nothing I feel like watching on Netflix 🙂

    • Podcasts are awesome! I wish I listened to more of them. I tend to choose audiobooks over podcasts, but I would listen to podcasts doing the same tasks as audiobooks. A lot of people listen to podcasts when getting ready in the morning and it’s definitely a great time to!
