New Year, New Tag Book Tag | Tag Tuesday

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all doing swell. Today I’m doing the New Year, New Tag Book Tag.

This tag was created by Divyaa at Div Reads and I’m so excited to do this tag. Make sure you support the original creator as well!

I won’t be tagging anyone, but if you feel like doing this tag, then count yourself as tagged by me!

Let’s get into this!

What was your favorite read of 2020?

I don’t think anyone is surprised that I am choosing The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller for this one. I absolutely adored this book and I know that I didn’t talk about it enough (and I feel like I talked about it a lot) this year.

I did do a full review of this book on my page so make sure you check that out if you’d like to know more about my thoughts. I highly recommend it, but I know that it won’t necessarily be everyone’s cup of tea.

What is a book you read in 2020 that you would recommend someone read in 2021?

This one was a bit tough. I’m going to recommend a book for my brother specifically this time. He’s running low on books to read and will be out of recommendations from me (besides the fact he needs to finish a couple series still!!) so I figured I would recommend something.

So I think that he would really enjoy Warcross by Marie Lu. I feel like I half recommended this to him already because at the time, I hadn’t read it. But I would definitely recommend it.

Even though I feel like the plot wasn’t necessarily unique, there were some things that stood out, like the gaming aspect of the story. I think that it was a super fun read and I really did end up loving it.

What do you want to read more of in 2021?

I have a couple things I want to read more of. I would like to read more non-fiction. I read more in 2020 than I think I have, well, ever and I loved it. I would definitely like to read more biographies, especially.

But I’d also like to read more physical books and reread more books. I feel like I fell off reading in 2020 mainly because I stopped listening to as many audiobooks. My schedule is so messed up that I just can’t find time to do all the things and my reading just kind of fell behind because of that.

What is your most anticipated read(s) of 2021?

This is such a tough one. Concrete Rose, Tricia Levenseller’s next book. If I ever get to Kingdom of the Wicked (don’t worry, I will and that’s a highly anticipated one) then the sequel to that. There’s so many.

I do monthly anticipated release posts (and videos even though January’s didn’t go up) and you can see January’s here.

An owned book you want to get to in 2021?

Like I said, Kingdom of the Wicked is one. I would like to just read a lot more books from my shelves. If I can have at least over half of my reads this year being ones I own, that would be fantastic.

An author you want to read from in 2021?

So, I’ll be doing a post and video about authors I want to read more from in 2021, but an author I would LOVE to read from for the first time is Akwaeke Emezi. I have heard so many good things about this author, especially from Bowties and Books and I would love to read something by them in 2021.

A reading habit you want to cultivate in 2021?

Reading when I first wake up. I’m really good about reading right before bed because that’s the time I use to catch up on Webtoons. But I am so bad about waking up, checking my phone, and then getting started with my day. I want to start waking up and reading first thing. I can check my phone just for messages. But no social media before I read.

I did this during November’s round of Readathin for a bit and I LOVED it. I read through so much when I was doing that and I was in such a better mood the entire time.

What is your reading goal for 2021?

I have a few goals, but my number goal is 100 books again. I have a feeling that if I read “better” than I did in 2020, then I’ll get closer to 150. But we’ll see. I’m leaving it at 100 and hoping to pass it.

Alright everyone! I hope you all enjoyed. Let me know in the comments what reading habit you would like to start in 2021!

Thanks so much for joining me. I’ll see you all in the next one. Have a wonderful day!

  1. For the Readathin in November I only read before getting up on weekends, but I really enjoyed that as well. (I wasn’t willing to wake up any earlier than I had to on work days, LOL.) I hope to start doing more of that again in the new year.

    1. I 100% don’t blame you for not waking up earlier on the weekdays. If I were working, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have done it. I’m hoping to start tomorrow since tomorrow is when I’m hoping to get myself on a schedule for waking up at a decent time.
