Weekly Update | February 8-14, 2021

Good evening everyone! I hope you’re all doing well! Today we’re going to be going over the stuff I did this past week and my goals for this week!

I hope you all enjoy!

What I’m Reading

So once again, I have finished nothing, but I am still working on 3 books! A physical book, an ebook, and an audiobook. I’m going to talk about them and the other two physical books and other ebook that I would like to read this week! I don’t plan on finishing all of these books, but we’ll get more into that as we talk about them.

So, the book that’s been recurring in all of these posts is House of Leaves. I’m still working on it very slowly. This isn’t a book that I want to rush through so I’m fine taking my time with it.

But I, again, don’t think I’ll be finishing this one this week. Honestly, my goal is to read 100 pages. I’ll be happy with that.

One of the other physical books that I’m going to be working on this week is A Thousand Beginnings and Endings the anthology. This is one that I’ve started, but I want to finish for my bingo TBR.

I’m going to see how many stories I need to read a day, but I want to finish it by Sunday.

I’m going to be starting and finishing Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett for my book club and I’m so excited. I’ve been meaning to read more Jenn Bennett but I just haven’t gotten around to any. I’m so glad that I’m finally going to be pushing myself to get to more.

(So, I’m writing this the day of it going up and it’s technically Monday. I want to say I read this first chapter of this and warn you all there is the death of a parent mentioned. The MC is 18, but her mom died when she was 10. From what I’ve gathered, it seems to have been because of a heart condition and a complication in pregnancy. So be wary going into this if you’re triggered by any of these things.)

Moving onto the audiobook I plan on finishing this week, I want to finish my listen of A Song of Wraiths and Ruin. I started this audiobook last year and just never got around to finishing it. So I would really like to finish it this week. I plan on working on a diamond painting while listening so I’m hoping that helps to push me.

As for the ebooks I plan on reading, I’m still working on Verona Comics. And I’m 25% of the way through that right now, so I’m really hoping that I can finish that early on in the week. If I don’t, I’m going to have to put it aside until I finish this next book.

I got an ARC of Love at First and I really need to read it so I can get a review for it up by the release date. I don’t want to guarantee one here, but I will definitely be posting one on my Instagram. So keep an eye out for that. If I end up putting down Verona Comics for this, I’ll pick that back up after finishing this one.

I got the ARC of this book from Netgalley and it comes out February 23rd.

What I’m Watching

I did manage to finish/catch up on 2 shows this week! Both are Korean Dramas. But I’m currently working on a Chinese Drama and I plan to watch another Korean one after that.

So, first up, I finished Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol. This drama followed a pianist who loses everything and moves to a small town, meeting a mysterious boy who she becomes close to.

This one for me started out really strong. But the ending was disappointing. I was left frustrated and confused. I wanted more from it and, while sometimes that can be a good thing, this time it wasn’t.

Too many unanswered questions and the ending was just super tropey and I felt like all the work put into certain things was just thrown out the window for this ending.

I would recommend people watch it knowing that the ending is frustrating. And if you have read this, please private message me on any of my social media so we can talk about it!

Then I moved on to watching the currently still ongoing drama, A Love So Beautiful. If I’m not mistaken, this is the Korean version of a Chinese drama under the same name. This one follows a girl who is in love with a cold guy who shows no interest.

That’s really what it is. I’m honestly let down by this one as well, but that’s mostly my fault. Here’s the thing, I was so bored by this one. I could not begin to tell you why I continued to watch it. But here we are, I’m still watching it as the new episodes come out. I couldn’t seem to stop watching it. I don’t know. Maybe I just really wanted to see the outcome.

This one starts out with them in their first year of high school and goes on past them graduating college and getting their own careers. I will say it’s an interesting time lapse. The later years in life I feel like are being a bit rushed through compared to the high school years, but I will still say that it’s being handled decently having such a long period of time in such a short amount of episodes and time in each episode.

I will finish this one out, but I wouldn’t recommend it, personally.

I’m currently working on Find Yourself which is a drama following a 32 year old single woman who is just waiting for “the one,” a 37 year old man also waiting for “the one,” and a 22 year old who has a crush on the 32 year old.

Sounds a bit messy. But I believe that it’s going to have a fake dating trope in it which is really exciting. Here’s the thing, it’s a love triangle. We know that it’s going to go that way. I am usually rooting for the one who doesn’t get chosen. That may happen again here. Right now, I wouldn’t say I’m set in who I’m rooting for just yet, but I do have an idea who I’m going to want our MC to end up with.

I’m only on episode 4 and I’m really enjoying it!

This isn’t really set in stone just yet, but I would like to watch Run On after I finish up Find Yourself. It’s one that I’ve been eyeballing since I first heard about it, but I just never got around to actually watching it. This week might be the time.

And that’s really it for this one! I would like to start playing a new game, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play that this week or if I was going to wait. I do plan on posting a “What I’m Playing” post one of these Saturdays, so keep an eye out for that.

Thank you all so much for joining me and I hope to see you all in the next one. Tomorrow I’m going to be sharing some photos from the Festivale event on Animal Crossing and show how my villagers were looking. Spoiler: They were flipping adorable.
