Things I Want To Get Back to This Summer

Hey everyone! Let’s talk about some things I want to do this summer. And make sure that you are also letting me know some things you want to start doing as well!

This year has been a bit of a mess for me, especially when it comes to stuff that I used to love doing but have not been finding myself doing. Today we’re going to talk about five of those things and some ideas I may have to get back into doing them.

Diamond Painting

Diamond painting is something that I used to absolutely ADORE doing. I would sit down for HOURS and just work on some diamond paintings. It was lovely. But this year, I just haven’t been finding myself doing them. I do know that a big reason for that is because I haven’t been listening to as many audiobooks.

And my getting back into diamond painting leads us into the next thing I want to get back into doing and that is…

Reading

I used to read DAILY almost. I was reading books like it was no one’s business and a big part of that was because I was working full time so I would have time to do that on my breaks. But since I stopped working, I haven’t had the time that I wouldn’t have anything else to do so I just haven’t been doing it.

Most recently, I’ve started finishing off my nights with reading. I will spend some time reading Webtoons and then get into my physical book. This does keep me up pretty late at night, but I’m ABSOLUTELY loving this time. I give myself about an hour to just sit in the silence of my house reading after my son goes to sleep. It’s definitely been helping me out a lot mentally as well. Giving myself this time.

I would also like to start listening to more audiobooks again. I used to listen to so many audiobooks, especially when I got into diamond painting. And I want to do both of those things again. So I would like to find a time that I dedicate to audiobooks and diamond painting like I have found for physically reading. I just have to figure out a schedule where I can fit that in.

Speaking of schedules, this next one that I have to talk about is another thing I need to figure out a schedule for and that is…

Social Media

I used to be posting on Instagram DAILY. A lot of what has discouraged me from posting is Instagram being… well, trash for small creators. I would love to get back to posting on it though. I have been trying this month to post a lot more and I’ve seen a huge change in my interaction. I post on Instagram to spark some conversations. So when I was posting and not getting any comments, it was definitely discouraging. But I would like to keep posting and continue to get conversations going about different things.

Another part of this “social media” is posting here more. I miss blogging and I do hope to get back into a nice flow of things. Sometimes it’s just hard with my current schedule to find time to write the posts. You may have noticed that my last two were… lacking. This one is a bit better so far just because I have the time to sit down and actually work on it. I’m going to continue to mess with and tweak my schedule to hopefully be able to get more posts written and out for you all.

Lastly, I know that I need to start posting on Twitter more as well. I want to make sure to post about streaming and bookish stuff more. Kind of as a cross platform sharing kind of thing. Twitter definitely has its moments, but it can definitely be a rough place to be, so it’s not my top priority right now, especially with bookish stuff. I will be posting more about streaming on there though.

To help with my schedule, another thing I want to get back into doing is…

Daily To Do Lists

Something that I found would keep me on top of getting all of these things done was writing to do lists. I would physically write out the do list and that would help me to get the stuff done that I needed to get done that day. It’s hard for me right now because I’m always just sitting with my notebook open wondering where to start. But I think that me planning out the rest of the week will definitely help me to know when I need to get this stuff done.

I really do need to start waking up earlier, though. That’s the big thing for me. Normally I wake up with enough time to eat quickly before stream then start. By the time I’m done streaming, I don’t really have much time for anything else and I just want to chill out. I also need to make sure to utilize my days “off” to get other stuff done.

It’s all about planning for me. I need to plan better. But along with wanting to get more stuff done, it all leads back to…

Enjoying Myself

All of these things may seem like things I feel I “have” to do or I may not seem like I want to do these things, but here’s the thing. I do truly truly love these things and I loved doing them when I used to. They helped me feel more like me and I want to get back to doing that.

Writing blog posts helps me to fulfill that passion for writing that I’ve always had. Blogging and Instagram help me to interact with other people with the same interests as me. Diamond painting may be a lot of work, but it’s such a relaxing hobby. To do lists help me to organize the thoughts roaming around my head and put them in some sort of order so I’m not so overwhelmed.

I’m not overwhelmed by all the times I want to do, I’m overwhelmed when I have so much to do and it’s all unorganized. It stresses me out. So I’m hoping that doing some of these things will lead to the other things working out as well, you know?

It’s been a struggle for me to get used to not working full time. I’ve started streaming because it was something I tried and loved doing, but also, it helps me to feel that sense of schedule and routine. Now I just need to make sure to not neglect the other things I want to do because of this.

But anyway, don’t forget to comment with some things you would like to start doing again this summer that you may have stopped doing this year. I hope you all are making sure to take care of yourselves and focusing on what makes you happy. Thanks so much for supporting me always. You’re all so very appreciated. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  1. I’ve been keeping my daily journal constantly, even when a bunch of people started joking that 2020 did away with the need for a planner. It’s the way I can keep myself focused on my to-do list, and it also is a great way to remind myself that I have been productive. I’ve lately switched my schedule around so that I do my “some lines a day” journal first thing in the morning (with notes about the previous day) and then review my planner. It’s helped me a LOT having scheduled time for it.

I also end my day with reading, though I need to start going to be earlier (instead of staying up mindlessly scrolling social media on the couch) so that I can read more before I need to go to sleep. And also, I need to find something to do while I listen to audiobooks. I’ve missed the audiobooks since I’m not commuting right now.
