Good morning everyone! It’s time to take a look at the December 2019 Owlcrate. If you don’t know what Owlcrate is, it’s a monthly subscription service where you get a new release hardcover book every month and a bunch of bookish related goodies.
So, let’s just get into this Unboxing. If you would like to get yourself an Owlcrate, make sure to click here.
First up is the spoiler card. This shows the theme of the month and the items included, along with who created each item and what series or book it’s based on.
I’m just going to go through the rest of the items and share photos of each thing. To check out the artist, click on the photo and it will bring you to their page.
So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed and stick around for future Unboxings! Also I’ll be posting again tomorrow but it’s going to be me starting to join a meme for Fridays!!!
Thanks so much for joining me and I’ll see you all tomorrow, until then let’s chat in the comments. Bye!
Good morning everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season. Today I’m going to be doing the I Should Have Read That Book Tag.
I saw this originally on Lala’s Book Reviews and you can check out their post here.
Here are the rules: • Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post • Link to the creator’s blog (booksnest.co.uk) in your post • Answer the questions below • Tag 10 others to take part • ENJOY THE TAG!
Before getting into this, please make sure to follow me on Instagram (linked in the photo below). I stay more up to date there with my reading and life stuff there. So if something happens and I can’t get a post up, you’ll know there first. So please follow! I’ll be eternally grateful.
A book that A certain friend is always telling you to read
This is actually a tough one. There aren’t really too many books that are frequently recommended to me that I haven’t read. At least not that I can remember. The only one is a series my brother tells me I need to read, but I don’t remember the name and I’m pretty sure we both know I’ll never read it.
A book thats been on your tbr forever and yet you still havent picked it Up
There are so many, but the one that I think has been on there the longest would be The Great Gatsby. I keep wanting to read it and I think 2020 would be the perfect year for that. Anyone interested in a group/buddy read? Message me on Instagram!
A book in a series you’ve started but haven’t gotten around to finishing Yet
Two Dark Reigns. I don’t remember what happened in the bit that I read so I’ll have to restart it. But I do want to finish that series sooner rather than later.
A classic YOU’VE always liked the sound of, but never actually read
I was going to say The Scarlet Letter, but I read a manga classic version of that. So I’m going to have to go with Fahrenheit 451. I’m so interested in reading that book, but holy crap I really don’t like classics so I keep putting it off. Maybe another buddy read?
A Popular book that it seems everyone but you have read
Nevernight. I know that not everyone has read this, but so many of my friends have and I just need to get to it!
Also, honorable mention to A Darker Shade of Magic. I listened to it, but literally don’t remember anything past the beginning world building. Sooooo.. yeah.
A book that inspired a film/Tv adaptation that you really love, but you haven’t read it yet
A lot of the anime I’ve seen are like this. Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club, and loads more I can’t think of right now. I would really like to get to finishing reading this manga so I can get more of these characters and these stories. Especially since I’ve heard Death Note goes more into some characters at the end that the anime seemed to mostly gloss over.
A book you see all over instagram but HAVEN’T picked up yet
Renegades. One Day in December. American Royals. The list goes on.
So that’s it for this one! It was quick. I’m going to be breaking the rules and not officially tagging anyone because even though I have been blogging for a while now, I feel like I still don’t have my footing. Especially with making friends with people who are willing to be tagged. I have a few but yeah.
If you’re reading this, count yourself as tagged. You’re welcome.
Thanks so much for joining me and I do hope to see you all in the next one! Bye!
Good morning everyone. I didn’t realize cramathon started literally yesterday until, well, yesterday. So I’m sharing my TBR today on a day I wouldn’t normally be posting. Which is fine!
So I am only at 124 of my 150 books according to goodreads. Honestly I don’t even know how correct that is anymore. I haven’t been updating it. I plan on updating a list on my computer/iPad more often than goodreads for next year. But I have to read a lot if I want to complete that goal. So cheesy romance audiobooks, manga, and poetry collection are going to be my friends. Or books I am close to finishing.
So here’s my “official” tbr for Cram-a-thon even though I plan to hopefully read more.
I’m nearly done with Christmas Wish, so I will definitely be finishing that during this readathon. I also would like to get to Snowed in Love before Christmas.
I got both of these books for review from Give Me Books Promotions, but I didn’t get to them before the release of Snowed in Love.
Another two that I got for review. These two come out in January and I would really like to get to them before the year is over so I can keep myself more ahead of my arcs.
Queen of Nothing will be going toward the challenge of reading a “frosty” cover. I have started it, but I’m only 50 pages in. Everyone I know that has read it has said it’s a super quick read. So I’m hoping for that.
For the book under 200 pages I’m going to be reading I Find You in the Darkness.
The She Book is going toward the shortest book on my TBR.
For the author with the same first letter of their first name as me, I’m going an extra step and doing the whole first name and last initial with Christmas Wish.
For the illustrations in the book and the 2019 release, I’m going to look into some Amanda Lovelace and also some manga. This will help me reach my goal.
For 7 books, I’m hoping to read The White Christmas Inn.
So in other words, lots of poetry collections and quick fun reads like romances. I still like to believe I can complete my goal, but I also know there’s no way. I’d have to read almost 3 books a day to hit that. Wish me luck.
Thank you all so much for joining me today. I’m hoping one of these days to get back into YouTube but for now, I’m going to continue to show my blog the love it deserves and you all the same love.
I’m going to be starting “theme” days on my Instagram for the captions and I’m hoping to do almost the same here. I’d like to start posting daily and the theme days can help with that. Some posts will be more in depth, some will be short and sweet.
So to do this, I need your help. Comment down below with anything you would like to see me posting about. I’m open to trying some new things. It doesn’t necessarily have to be book related. I have lots of things I would be willing to talk about so you’ll never know without suggesting!
Good morning everyone! Time to talk about stuff happening next year. That’s right. We’re discussing releases during January that I’m excited for. The first releases into the new year, new decade!
Im going to be discussing books, Korean dramas, anime, manga, movies, tv shows, and anything else I’d be interested in. All of these may not be included in this month’s post, though. It just depends on whether I’m interested in anything coming out.
That being said, make sure you stick around to the end for the books that I’m going to be preordering and stuff I actually plan on watching as it comes out. Just because I’m excited for everything, doesn’t mean I have the time to watch it all.
So let’s start with honorable mentions. These are honorable because they are being released in January but I plan on reading them before then as I got arcs of these two books.
Click on the book’s cover to add it to your GoodReads. Below is my Amazon affiliate Link if you’d like to preorder it as well.
This book follows a bookstore employee after she learns that the bookstore is going to become a part of a larger bookstore company. The risk assessor comes to the shop to see if it will be worth the risk and the two of them do not mix well. This seems like it’s going to be a cute hate to love romance. Keep an eye out closer to the release on Jan 13th for my review.
This book is a second chance romance about a bridesmaid/maid of honor and the best man. This is the second book in the series and the wedding is of the two characters in the first. So I highly recommend checking out The Best Friend Problem first. I got that one for review when it came out and I really enjoyed it! This comes out the 20th.
Books I’m Anticipating
This follows two people, two businesses, and an epic twitter battle. This comes out on the 21st.
This book tells of a softball star who loses everything because she punched someone during the most important game of the year. Grey, the star quarterback who is out due to an injury, concocts a plan to have Liv be his temporary replacement. Now he just needs to coach her. This comes out Jan 7th.
This book follows a married couple, several years down the line, when their marriage isn’t what it used to be. So the two of them decide to go to counseling and seek help to fix their marriage. This comes out Jan 14th and is the sequel to Fix Her Up.
Movies in Theaters
This show tells of a man who can look into someone’s eyes and see the moment before they die. He uses this to team up with a detective and find a serial killer.
I’m mainly interested because I really enjoy Ok Taecyeon (who is playing the main character). I love watching anything he’s in, despite me not being caught up on his stuff.
The Game: Towards Midnight starts in January and will go until sometime in March. There will be 32 episodes and will air Wednesday’s and Thursdays, each day having 2 back-to-back 30 minute episodes on MBC.
This show is about a makeup artist and an idol trainee who is booted from the program. After being booted, she starts working as an assistant under the makeup artist.
I think that this is going to be a fun romantic comedy and I’m really excited for it.
This show is going to be starting Jan 3rd and currently has planned for 16 episodes. It will be airing Fridays and Saturdays.
Now I’m going to end the list there. There weren’t any manga or anime that I was really interested in and I really wanted to get this post up so let’s talk what I’m going to be watching and preordering.
I will be trying to watch the Kdramas as they come out. But we’ll see how well that goes. As for the books, I’ll be preordering the arcs I got, if they have physical copies and I rate them 4 or 5 stars. As for the other releases, I will be preordering Tweet Cute and Throw Like a Girl. The reason I’m not doing the last one is because I haven’t read the first book yet. I will hopefully get it soon and get to it soon.
But for now, that’s it! Let me know what releases you’re excited for!
I’ll see you all in the next one. Have a wonderful week. Bye!
Good morning everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about books from my TBR that I plan on reading in 2020. But also, these are book that I think I’ll love. It’s pretty much my 5 star predictions for 2020 but I don’t like calling it that because I don’t give 5 stars often.
But these are the 20 books I would like to read in 2020. They are in no particular order. Just how I thought about them.
Sorry that this post is going up so much later than planned. But let’s just get into the task of the day.
Task of the Post (Get Your Life Together)
So I’m going to focus on my goal of decluttering for the rest of this to give you all examples. Last post I said to make a list of tasked that need to be done to reach that goal. So I’m breaking decluttering down into different areas. Then breaking it down into tasks below those areas.
A bit of a wrench has been thrown into my original plan so I’m having to rearrange things. Im only going to share overall tasks as to make this not as long as it could be.
Living room (including books and closet)
Electronics (stuff on my phone, computer, email, ipad, etc)
Now that you have the tasks, break things down by time. When do you want to have each task done by?
I’m going to make these tasks into separate posts from now on. So the next one will be a separate post. Keep an eye out.
Thanks for joining me and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye!
Good afternoon everyone! I had a completely different idea for today but decided to push it aside in favor of this one that I saw on Lala’s Book Reviews.
They did a collection of a bunch of Christmas tags, but I’m only doing one of them. So make sure to check out their original post to see the rest!
Naughty or Nice Book Tag
• Tag & link the person who tagged you. • Tag and link Jenniely’s original post, for she’d love to read everyone’s answers! • Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done. • Tally up how naughty or nice you are! • Tag another 10 people.
Received an ARC and not reviewed it
Yup. I’m pretty sure anyone who has been reviewing books and receiving books to review has done this. If I’m reading a book that I’m not liking because it’s not a genre or trope I enjoy, I DNF it and won’t review it. I choose to do this because I don’t think it’s fair of me to give a book a poor review when it’s something I don’t normally enjoy to begin with.
Why do I choose to accept them then? Sometimes I don’t realize until after I’ve accepted them that it has elements that I don’t like. Other times, I like to give them a chance. I have enjoyed books with elements I don’t like or in genres I don’t like. I don’t do it often, but I’m not going to penalize a book because of this.
Have less than 60% feedback ration on Netgalley
My feedback ratio is 80% right now. And it’s only that because I got 2 books today to review that I obviously haven’t read. I have a few backlist that I plan on prioritizing early next year.
Read a book on GoodReads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did).
Folded down the page of a book
So I’m saying no, but I’m sure I’ve done this as a kid. But since getting back into reading after my fall out from it, I have not. I have too many bookmarks to be doing that.
Accidentally spilled on a book
I’m usually reading while at work on my lunch break. So yes. I’ve spilled stuff on my books. I feel no shame.
DNFed a book this year
Yuppppp! Ain’t nobody got time to hate read.
Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Barnes and Noble has this collection of classics that’s just GORGEOUS. I have a few and I have no intention of ever touching them.
Read while you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
That’s every time I’m reading. I am always supposed to be doing something else. Homework, blogging, cleaning, etc.
Skim read a book
Not a whole book, but parts of books yes. Literally anytime something dramatic is happening or any sex scenes. Dramatic stuff I wanna see how it plays out quicker. Sex scenes are not my jam. So I skim them most of the time. Unless I want the goods myself. Then I don’t. 😉
Completely missed your Goodreads goal
Not yet. I’m a bit behind, but I’m going to read some manga or something to catch up 😂
Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library
Again, I have as a kid but that’s my moms fault not mine because I was too young to go there myself. Other than that, I suck and don’t go to the library. Goals for 2020. I swear.
Broke a book buying ban
I’ve stopped setting them. I do better when not on a ban.
Started a review, let it for ages then forgot what the book was about
Written in a book you were reading
Yes. I want to do it more but I also only want to in books I plan on keeping soooo…
Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
So, since finding Bookly, I’ve stopped using Goodreads as much. GoodReads is more organized for seeing the books I’ve read and kinda when, but I just don’t find myself updating there as much anymore. I was to check out LibraryThing again and try that.
Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
Borrowed it when I was younger but still have it and haven’t returned it. We don’t talk anymore though so…
Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
Yup. Someone at my work is reading Stalking Jack the Ripper and I avoid mentioning it because I don’t want her asking to borrow the next books. They are my babies.
Broke the spine of someone else’s book
I don’t borrow books from people so I don’t have to worry about that.
Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
Let’s move on 🙈
Sat on a book accidentally
Again, moving on 😂
15/20 Wellll…. moving on!
So that’s it for this one. I meant to have this post going up yesterday, but I didn’t end up posting it.
Thanks so much for joining me and continue reading for the “task of the post” where I give you and myself a task to complete before the next post that helps to organize our lives and get our crap together.
GYLT (Get Your Life Together)
Let’s check in with the task I gave you Monday. The task was to set a 6 month goal for yourself. If you didn’t see that post, then feel free to take a minute to do it now. Set one goal or set several. It’s all up to you.
Mine is to graduate from college, start an internship, and declutter my home.
So these things are all doable. I’m supposed to be graduating in May/June and I want to start an internship before then.
Today’s task is to take those 6 month goals and make a checklist. For example, for graduating I need to:
Take and pass ____ classes
Apply to graduate
Plan days better so I can do well in my classes without stressing out
Those are the few things I need to do before I graduate. I’m going to do the same for the rest of my goals and I’ll see you all for another check in on Thursday the 19th to continue. During that post, I’ll also be sharing my 2020 5 Star Predictions.
Thanks so much for joining me. I’ll see you all then! Make sure to like and comment with your goals!
Good morning everyone. I hope you had a great weekend and kick off this week right. I felt what better day to share my goals for 2020 than on a Monday
Monday’s are one of my most motivating days. I work Sunday nights into Monday and that’s the start of my work week. I’m determined to make this week a good one and productive. So to start that out, here are my goals for 2020.
I’m not going to go too in depth with why I’m doing them here. This will be my ultimate list where I will link to if anyone wants to see the cohesive list of my goals.
If you want me to go in depth with them, I can do separate posts for my Reading Goals and my lifestyle goals. Let me know if you want that.
This may seem like a lot, but I really like to push myself and honestly these are a lot of background challenges.
I also have a kind of TBR Jar but with a twist. TBR Jars never work for me. For the past 2 years I’ve wrapped books in wrapping paper and unwrapped them each month.
Well, instead of being wasteful, I decided to reuse something I have many of: empty subscription boxes. I grabbed 4 Owlcrate boxes and 2 Book of the Month boxes and filled them to the brim with books (One of the BotM boxes is currently bursting at the seams, so to speak). Every other month I will “unbox” one of these boxes and give myself the two months to read them. So in January, I’ll be doing the first and I’ll have between Jan and Feb to read them.
The max amount of books in one of the boxes is 4, the least I think is 2. So it all depends. I’ll probably start with BotM since it’s the beginning of the year. I’m really excited to start this and I hope that it helps me to read some books I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise.
Declutter my Home and Life
Be More Active in the Community
Be More Positive (Toward Myself and Others)
Seek Help With Infertility
Find a New Job/Get Promoted
Study Crystals More
Start Learning ASL and Korean Again
Do Memory Exercises
Like I said, it seems like a lot. I have plans for certain things to tackle these and others I’m not 100% sure where to start.
If you want to join me in doing any of these goals, please let me know! I would love to motivate one another with these things. I plan on making spreads in my BuJo to track how I’m doing with all of them. The reading ones are simple. It’s the life ones I’m not sure where to start with or track.
Thank you all so much for joining me. Please let me know what goals you are going to be working toward in 2020.
Task of the Post
Here’s today’s task. My next blog post will be going up tomorrow. So take today to come up with some 6 month goals. Where do you want to be in 6 months? I will share mine tomorrow, but think about yours. If you want to share with me, go ahead. If not, then don’t feel obligated to. But I want you to at least start thinking about it.
Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Make sure to take today to plan for this upcoming week, finalize what Christmas stuff you have left to do, drink your water, get enough sleep, and take care of yourself.
So in light of this, I’m going with a really easy post today. Today, I’m sharing what book I chose for the first round back with the Just Book It Book Club and some news and updates with it.
First, I decided to make the book club bi-monthly. So the first round will be January and February. You have those full two months to read the book.
You can discuss it in the Facebook group, just mention where you are before you say spoilers. Then we will do a full discussion at the beginning of March (very early on if not the end of February) where we will do a discussion of the book and decide on March and April’s book.
This full discussion will be done on the Just Book It Book Club discord. I’m still trying to figure it all out, but join the discord by clicking here or the photo below.
We will decide on a date from there. Join the discord, introduce yourself and let me know what you’re currently reading and any 2020 reading or life goals you have. My blog post for that was supposed to go up today but I wanted this to be up first.
So, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The book!
Tricia Levenseller is releasing a new book in February and I’m so freaking excited about this. This book is a stand-alone inspired by Vikings.
Rasmira has trained her entire life to lead her village and become the warrior her father has taught her to be. But when the trial finally comes up, she ends up being sabotaged and fails. This leads to her being banished from her village. To prove she’s worthy, she decides to kill the god who has been tormenting her village and the surrounding ones for years.
I’m really excited about this book. Provided below are the links to purchase this book from Amazon and Book Depository. The link for Amazon, as always, is my affiliate link. Use that and I’ll get a small percentage of your purchase to help get more books and other things to improve my blog and Instagram. Currently I’m working on saving up to get some more props for photos. Recommend some of your favorite little trinkets to see in photos.
Thank you so much everyone for your continued support and I hope that you all join in! If you’ve already read this, feel free to join into the chats about it! Just remember to remain spoiler free until the final discussion!
I appreciate you all so much and I look forward to chatting with you all on discord! It’s an interesting thing and I’m excited to start using it!
Plan your week! Sit down right now and plan out your week. Whether you just make a to do list or go all out with stickers and drawings in a bullet journal. Sit down right now and plan it out. Make a list of everything you need to do this week and plan it out throughout the week. Spread things out so you aren’t stressing out. That’s what I’m going to do right now along with you!

Good morning everyone! I hope you slept well (or worked well if you’re like me) and are as excited about this post as I am!
I’m here today to tell you about…
What is SelfLoveathon?
So, I was thinking (way back in November) about how I wanted to read more books that contain characters like me. So I kept thinking on this and an idea sprouted.
How often do we think about how we can’t find books that pertain to who we are, how we identify, or struggles we are going through?
More often than we should most of the time.
That being said, I decided that since January is the start of the new year and the start of people trying to become better versions of themselves, how about we do a readathton that is based on loving yourself the way you are.
Find books that contain characters that have the same identities, struggles, or are like you in any way. You have anxiety? Find a book with a character who has anxiety. You are asexual, find books that have asexual characters.
Find these characters that you can identify with and read about them.
PROMOTE THESE BOOKS! After you read them, review them and talk about them. Review on Amazon, your Blog or YouTube channel, Barnes and Noble, Book Depository, Facebook, Twitter, freaking take out an ad in the newspaper if you have to. Just review the dang books. Mention what about them you connected with so other readers who may be looking for these books can find them!
Okay, we know what it is, so when is it?
SelfLoveathon will be held from January 20th to January 26th. It will start at midnight on January 20th and end at 11:59pm on January 26th. That’s only a week and I know that we can all do it.
Are there any challenges?
The only reading challenge is to read the books and share them. That’s it.
You specified reading challenges. Are there any other challenges?
Yup! I decided that since we are not doing reading challenges, that we shall do a photo challenge! The photo is down below. Make sure to screenshot it! If you can’t figure out how to screenshot it and crop it, DM me on Instagram (link here) and I’ll send it to you directly.
How will we stay connected?
Use the hashtag #SelfLoveathon on Instagram, Twitter, and anywhere else. Feel free to tag me in anything you are posting about it or send it to me directly. Sometimes I get really busy and I don’t have the chance to keep up with everything. I won’t really be running sprints, but if I do they will be on my Instagram in my stories.
I think that’s really all I have to share about it currently. Make sure you all are joining in and reading the books with characters just like you! Find the books with character you can connect with and maybe even learn more about yourself with.
I will try to make a Google Doc with some GoodReads lists or recommendation lists of different things that people may be looking for. So let me know what different character aspects you’ll be looking for! I know I’ll be hunting down as many pansexual characters as I possibly can. And even some dealing with infertility maybe.
Just remember, you are beautiful and such a wonderful human being, even if you can’t see it and other people are trying to tell you different. You deserve love, but to get there you must first love yourself.
Take this year to focus on loving yourself. Be the best you that you can possibly be and love that person whether you’re 100% all of the time or not. Love. Yourself.
Thanks so much for joining me. Make sure to follow me in Instagram, share this post on your social media, and join into the fun! I’ll see you all in the next one!
